Electrical About the Role A well?established electrical and
communications contractor in the New York/New Jersey metro area is
seeking a Purchasing Agent to support a growing portfolio of
commercial and institutional projects. The company has a long
history of delivering high?quality electrical and low?voltage
installations and is looking for a detail?oriented professional to
join its operations team. ?Position Overview As a Purchasing Agent,
you’ll collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and
engineering teams to source materials, negotiate pricing, manage
purchase orders, and coordinate timely deliveries to job sites.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast?paced
construction environment and is looking for stability, long?term
growth, and hands?on involvement in meaningful projects. Key
Responsibilities Prepare and issue purchase orders for electrical
materials, communications equipment, tools, and project?specific
components. Identify, evaluate, and manage vendors to secure
competitive pricing and dependable delivery performance. Support
procurement for electrical construction, structured cabling, and
solar PV projects. Collaborate with project teams to forecast
material needs for commercial, healthcare, educational, and
technical facilities. Track long?lead items and coordinate
logistical needs for job sites across the NY/NJ region. Negotiate
pricing, delivery schedules, and volume agreements aligned with
project budgets. Monitor order status, shipping, returns, and
inventory accuracy. Maintain detailed purchasing records and
resolve discrepancies related to billing, pricing, or damaged
goods. Assist with warehouse stock coordination and inventory
workflows. Compare vendor proposals and recommend cost?effective
alternatives. Participate in value?engineering discussions to
support project efficiency. Required Skills & Experience Minimum of
2 years’ purchasing experience in electrical contracting,
construction, or a related industry. Working knowledge of
electrical systems, components, and construction materials. Strong
negotiation, communication, and organizational abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and purchasing or
construction?related software. Preferred Qualifications Experience
supporting commercial, healthcare, institutional, or infrastructure
projects. Familiarity with suppliers and electrical distribution
networks within the NY/NJ region. Ability to interpret electrical
drawings, specifications, and submittals. Strong attention to
detail and consistent follow?through. Ability to work effectively
in a fast?paced, deadline?driven environment.
Customer?service?oriented approach when supporting field
operations. Strong problem?solving skills and comfort working in
dynamic project settings. Work Environment & Benefits This is a
full?time, on?site position (five days per week). The employer

This is a Permanent position based out of Suffern, NY. Pay and
Benefits The pay range for this position is $70000.00 -
$150000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and
may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
