• Employment Type: TravelRegistered Nurse - Pediatrics (Med/Surg)Location: 760 Broadway, Woodhull Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY 11206Shift: 7:30 PM - 8:00 AM (Night Shift)Schedule: 13-week contract - Rotating weekends required - Must report as scheduled, including holidaysDuration: 13 WeeksFacility: Woodhull Medical Center -Job Summary:The Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role requires hands-on care for pediatric patients, particularly in pre- and post-surgical settings, within a high-acuity hospital environment. -Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patient health status and provide direct nursing care to pediatric Med/Surg patients.
  • Administer and document prescribed medications and treatments accurately.
  • Perform essential clinical tasks such as wound care, catheter insertion, IV therapy, and dressing changes.
  • Monitor and interpret patient vital signs and telemetry; report any adverse responses to treatment or medication promptly.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team on discharge planning and patient education.
  • Educate patients and families about surgical procedures, recovery, and at-home care.
  • Ensure all documentation in patient charts and EMR systems is accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and nursing best practices. -Required Qualifications:
    • Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. -Experience:
      • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Pediatric Med/Surg within a large acute care hospital.
      • Most recent pediatric experience must be within the past 12 months. -Certifications:
        • Active New York State RN License with Primary Source Verification.
        • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
        • Completion of a Self-Assessment Skills Checklist and Specialty Exam in Pediatric Med/Surg. -Required Skills:
          • Physical and clinical assessment
          • Medication administration and documentation
          • IV therapy and catheter management
          • Post-operative care and wound management
          • Patient and family education
          • Infection control and safety compliance
          • Telemetry monitoring -Preferred Qualifications:
