The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (P.V.S.C.), a publicly-owned wastewater treatment facility located in Newark, New Jersey, is currently accepting applications for an Industrial Pretreatment Program Coordinator. Created in 1902, PVSC is the 5th largest facility of its kind in the United States, directly serving approximately 1.4 million residents in 48 municipalities located in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union Counties. The 140-acre plant is designed to treat an average of 330 million gallons per day ("mgd") of wastewater with an annual average flow of approximately 241 mgd.

Position Summary: The Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP) Coordinator position supports the Assistant Director of the Inspection & Compliance Bureau (ICB) in meeting all applicable PVSC NJPDES-DSW Permit requirements and program objectives. The IPP Coordinator reviews and finalizes community flows in the User Charge System and provides technical advisement on the collection system as part of the IPP and On-Call Program. The IPP Coordinator works with the PVSC Geographic Information System (GIS) Coordinator on the development, implementation, integration, operation, and maintenance of PVSC GIS data as it relates to IPP duties and collection system operations and maintenance activities.

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required

Requirements: Must possess a thorough knowledge of flow metering principles and practices. Must be familiar with pipe and manhole assessment protocols and related computer software. Must be proficient working with a Geographic Information System (GIS). Must possess knowledge of the PVSC collection system along with overall expertise of the Industrial Pretreatment Program and User Charges. Must have the ability to provide technical support and training to the GIS end users within the ICB. Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver's License

Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience within PVSC's Industrial Pretreatment Program. A comprehensive knowledge of the PVSC and satellite collection systems and their associated metering facilities is also required.

Physical Demands: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained. To perform the essential functions of this position the employee must be able to: sit, stand, walk, stoop, climb (including ladders), kneel, lift up to 25 lbs., carry, reach, push, pull, handle heavy objects, use a keyboard, and minor use of tools, as well as have manual dexterity and hearing and visual acuity. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks, as well as Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) in compliance with PVSC's Facial Hair Grooming Policy.

Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system.
